All-ceramic veneers are used in dentistry for the restoration of teeth with fractures, discoloration, turns and deviations, but also for aesthetic interventions in color and shape in order to improve the aesthetics of the smile. They are restorations made of highly aesthetic porcelain, which are cemented to the front surface of the teeth.
Severely discolored teeth that cannot be improved by other means can be significantly improved with veneers.
In special cases where there is extensive loss of tooth substance in the front teeth due to fracture, the restoration can easily be done with all-ceramic veneers, which match the surface characteristics and color to the adjacent teeth, so that the end result has a natural appearance.
Finally, small deviations of the teeth from the dental arch as well as small spaces can be restored with minimally invasive procedures.
All-Ceramic Crowns
A very common aesthetic intervention is the replacement of the old metal-ceramic crowns with the characteristic gray color on the gum margin, with all-ceramic made entirely out of porcelain.
All-ceramic crowns have a very high strength and thus the presence of an internal metal frame is not necessary. A white porcelain or zirconia core ensures the great longevity of the restoration.
At the same time, the porcelain core hides very satisfactorily any discoloration of the tooth.
The core is externally coated with porcelain providing excellent visual properties, and amazing color matching with the rest of the teeth. The same material can be used to make all-ceramic bridges.
Alternatively, when the tooth has less damage, ceramic inlays are used. These are porcelain fillings, made by the dental technician, have excellent aesthetics, are bonded to the tooth after an impression, fit perfectly, and are more durable than resin fillings.
